Just Add Steam: Eucalyptus Shower Melts

August 27, 2026

There’s nothing quite like the fresh, clean aroma of dōTERRA Eucalyptus Essential Oil. Its cool, herbaceous scent immediately brings to mind a spa, a steamy shower, and that wonderfully refreshed feeling afterward.

dōTERRA Eucalyptus is actually a blend of five different eucalyptus species, including Eucalyptus radiata and Eucalyptus globulus. Its primary chemical component is eucalyptol, also known as 1,8-cineole. The result is a refreshing essential oil that can be used aromatically, topically, and around the home.

Why Keep Eucalyptus on Hand?

Eucalyptus is one of those oils that can quickly become a household favorite because there are so many simple ways to use it.

Create a spa-like shower. dōTERRA recommends placing one or two drops of Eucalyptus on the shower floor. The steam helps disperse that refreshing aroma throughout the shower.

Diffuse it. Add three to four drops to your diffuser when you want a fresh, revitalizing aroma. Eucalyptus can also help create a calm atmosphere during stressful circumstances.

Add it to a massage. Combine Eucalyptus with a carrier oil or lotion for a cooling, soothing massage. For topical use, dōTERRA recommends diluting one drop of Eucalyptus with 10 drops of carrier oil.

Freshen your home. Eucalyptus can also be used as a room deodorizer. Try combining Eucalyptus, Lavender, and your favorite citrus essential oil with water in a spray bottle for a simple DIY deodorizing spray.

dōTERRA has shared a similar shower-melt recipe using baking soda, water, and essential oil.

What You'll Need

  • 1½ cups baking soda
  • ½ cup water
  • 15–20 drops dōTERRA Eucalyptus Essential Oil
  • Small silicone molds
  • Airtight container or small jar for storage

How to Make Them

  1. Combine the baking soda and water in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Add 15–20 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil, depending on how strong you'd like the aroma, and mix again.
  3. Spoon the mixture into small silicone molds and press it down firmly.
  4. Allow the shower melts to dry overnight before carefully removing them from the molds.
  5. Store them in an airtight container until you're ready to use them.

How to Use Your Shower Melt

Place one shower melt toward the back of your shower, away from the direct stream of water. As it gradually dissolves, the steam will help disperse the fresh Eucalyptus aroma.

It's a simple way to make an everyday shower feel a little more like a trip to the spa!

Bring the Spa Home

You don't need an elaborate routine to enjoy essential oils. Sometimes something as simple as adding Eucalyptus to your diffuser or dropping a homemade shower melt into your shower can make an ordinary part of your day feel special.

With its cool, fresh aroma and so many easy uses around the home, dōTERRA Eucalyptus is definitely one you'll want to keep within reach.
